Our Research Methodology
Every guide on Ascent is built from a consistent, documented research process — not summarized from other travel blogs. Here's exactly how we do it, so you know what you're getting.
How We Research Each Destination
- Official sources first. Transit fares come from the actual transit authority (MTA, TfL, RATP, etc.), museum and attraction prices come from the venue's own site, and visa information comes from the relevant government or embassy page — not from other blogs repeating each other.
- Price verification. Every cost figure is checked against current listings at the time of publication and carries a "last verified" note. Prices drift — we'd rather tell you a range and flag when we checked it than pretend a number never changes.
- Itinerary logic. Our day-by-day routes are built around actual geography and opening hours — we map real travel times between stops so you're not zigzagging across a city, a mistake we see often in generic listicles.
- No recycled listicles. We don't rewrite the top five results for a city and call it a guide. If a recommendation is in an Ascent guide, we can point to why: a specific price, a specific opening time, a specific transit connection.
What We're Not
We're not claiming our team has personally walked every street in every guide on this site — that would be dishonest for a site covering 25+ destinations. What we do guarantee is that every practical detail (prices, hours, transit, visa rules) is sourced from an authoritative, checkable reference, not guessed or copied from another blog's guess.
Corrections
Prices and rules change. If you spot something outdated, tell us and we'll fix it — with a visible "updated" note on the article.
